Cistercian Abbey of Heiligenkreuz
Just 15 km west of Baden lies the Cistercian Abbey of Heiligenkreuz. The abbey courtyard with its Trinity Column and the medieval abbey church are open to the public. However, the actual heart of the monastery can only be seen during a guided tour. On a guided tour, the monastery complex can be experienced as a synthesis of artistic and architectural styles spanning nine centuries.
At noon, the monks gather in the abbey church for choir prayer. Participating in the choir prayer is a special experience. The monks’ Gregorian chant is renowned worldwide. Their debut album, “Chant – Music for Paradise,” stormed the charts in 2008.
Please take your seats by 11:55 a.m. at the latest for the choir prayer.
At noon, we have a table at the monastery inn. À la carte dining.
We have booked an audio guide tour. Photographers can listen to individual segments of interest on their mobile devices, either in English or German, and, most importantly, linger independently at those sites that offer an interesting 3D subject for each individual. Guests are asked to bring their own mobile devices and install the Hearonymus app on them.
